Get your hands dirty and volunteer with us!

In 2023, 450 volunteers gave over 2500 hours.
In 2022, 130 volunteers completed over 1,600 hours.

Volunteers are a vital part of the success of Growing Places Indy. If you enjoy getting your hands dirty, working outdoors, learning new skills while contributing to the community, we welcome you to join us. Our volunteers help perform many tasks, including weeding, harvesting crops, seeding, and removing debris. Volunteer workdays are held every month, from April through October. No experience necessary, just a positive attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig in!

Group Volunteer Opportunities

We are able to host groups at White River State Park for volunteering opportunities, depending on the time of year and workload on the farm. We will do our best to organize projects to accommodate groups of various sizes. If you’d like to bring a group to the farm, please submit the following form with your request.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

During the growing season, we have regular shifts on the farm throughout the week. If you’re interested in volunteering, reach out to us at info@growingplacesindy.org.

Walking or Biking to the Garden
If you can walk, bike, skateboard, or otherwise travel to the garden without a car, please do! It will save you the extra steps of parking, and we are located at the intersection of the Cultural Trail and Canal Walkway, so it’s super easy!
 
Parking for U-Pick & Yoga
Typically, you can park in the surface lot, or the underground parking lot. You enter both from the WRSP main entrance at 801 W. Washington St. To enter the underground parking, you will turn right at the park entrance and drive past the Visitor’s Center, Wheel Fun and the garden as you follow the driveway to the parking garage entrance. You will get a ticket as you enter the garage. A GPI team member will have parking vouchers. Please remember to get one as soon as you arrive to the garden. You will use your parking voucher to exit the parking garage.
 
During Event Parking
If there is an Event, you will need to park in the underground garage BEFORE 4:30 p.m. in order for your voucher to provide free parking. Typically the surface lot will be closed during events.
