How did you learn about Growing Places Indy? What made you want to get involved?
I learned about Growing Places Indy during a walk on The Canal when my family first moved downtown. I was curious about the farm right in the middle of the city and looked up more information to educate myself. Over the years, I kept up with the work GPI was doing. Last year, I had the honor of seeing Executive Director Victoria Beaty speak at an event, which motivated me to get more involved.
What Growing Places Indy initiative is most exciting to you?
GPI’s drive toward using its resources and platform to improve food access and food equity is exciting and necessary work. I look forward to aiding in this initiative in every way that I can. I plan to spend my tenure on the Board of Directors, listening and learning about all the incredible work that has been done and all of the work that needs to be done to help people become food secure.
Do you have any personal experience with food or farming?
Not a lot. We had some urban chickens for a couple of years, and I have done some branding work for local urban farms, but I am looking forward to keeping my hands dirty (and sharing more bad jokes).
